The Grand Jury Prize for Feature Film, awarded to "Never After Dark" from Japan, is a testament to this. Charming Stranger, a group specializing in immersive experiences, presented events like "HAG," a Shakespeare-inspired adventure, and "CLAWS," a one-on-one interactive thriller. Fangoria's Angel Melanson even tried "ETERNAL," an immersive audio experience, proving her mettle in the face of horror.
A Community of Outcasts and Weirdos
The Overlook Film Festival feels like a secret society for horror enthusiasts. The opening night parade, led by John Kassir (the Crypt Keeper himself), announced to the world that this was a festival for the horror-obsessed. Events like the celebration of "An American Werewolf in London's" 45th anniversary, with horror maestro Sam Zimmerman presenting Rick Baker with the Master of Horror award, are the stuff of horror fan dreams.
