Eucalyptus, the weight-loss startup that has grown into one of the nation’s leading health-focused companies, is being acquired by Hims & Hers Health, the New York-listed player in obesity medications, in a deal valued at more than $1.6 billion. This marks a major windfall for Eucalyptus’s 35-year-old co-founder and the venture backers behind the company.
Hims & Hers, headquartered in San Francisco, announced late Thursday that it will purchase the seven-year-old Australian firm. Eucalyptus operates well-known weight-loss brands Pilot and Juniper, and it also offers a fertility service called Kin. The transaction is an all-cash deal that would see Eucalyptus become Hims & Hers’ international division.
